An unusual request! I am looking to source a copy of one of the old "telephone dialling code" booklets for the Stetchworth exchange - these were distributed by GPO/BT for customers until around the mid 80s and contained local and national dialing code lists. Would it be possible to make some enquiries/advertise this request (website/newsletter) on the off-chance that someone living locally still has an old copy they no longer need? Many thanks for your help!

I am looking for information on Richard and Sarah Dawkins. Richard was born in Woodditton England on October 18, 1668. Sarah's birth information is unknown. They had five children, one of which who was also named Richard Dawkins was born in Stetchworth on December 27, 1701. I am looking for anything that you may know about these folks, or if you know a resource that may. (Birth, Death records, or Church information etc.)

I am looking for any information on Joseph Saunders and his wife Mary nee Dudley. They lived in Stetchworth around 1851. Is there anyone who can tell me if church records are available to purchase?
I am looking for their death or any living relatives still in the area. According to the 1861 census he and Mary lived at "Grocers shop"
If anyone can help I would appreciate it.
Love the site.

I will pass your message on to the churchwarden of St Peter's church, Stetchworth. She is away at the moment but I'm sure she will deal with it when she returns. In the meantime I will have a look around and see what I can find out for you.

I have passed your query on to the churchwarden of St. Peter's church, Stetchworth and she will look into it and contact you, if she has not already done so. The church will be open on the day you mention. If you write to the village email address ([email protected]) I will be able to give you more information.

I am visiting Stetchworth on Sunday 7th August hoping to find out some information about my Great Grandfather , John Castle, and his father George Castle. John Castle was I believe a Stud Manager for the Earl of Ellesmere for many years and I think he died in Stetchworth. I plan to search for his grave and that of his father in the churchyard I would like to know if the church will be open on that sunday and if there are any local records available. Thank you.John Castle died in 1914 aged 69.

Thanks for your message. I'll ask around and see if any of the older people in the village remember the Humphries family. If you write to the village email address ([email protected]) I'll be able to send you any information directly.
